330 tourists booke the Space tour by SS2 | Space tour costs $20,000
Space ship-2 (SS2) which can take the passengers to the space, and first of its kind, is successfully tested in the Mojave Space port. It is made by Virgin Galactic Company. There is a facility to accommodate six passengers and two pilots. Ticket fare is almost $20,000 (Rs. 10 lakhs in Indian currency). Around 330 enthusiasts worldwide have even paid deposits for this tour.
Test duration is 2 hours 54 minutes. A test in which spaceship-2 detaches from its main part is not conducted. These tests are done till 2011.
White Knight Two is the main airplane which takes spaceship-2 to 16 kms above the earth.
Space Tour Itenary
- 16 kms above the earth, SS-2 detaches from the main plane.
- 100 kms above the earth, SS-2 leaves earth’s orbit from rocket engine.
- 1110 kms above the earth, here passengers can experience gravitation-free state and can see the earth from windows for 5 minutes.
- SS-2 wings will be opened at 21.5 kms above the earth, to facilitate the entry into earth’s atmosphere.
