A novel all-in-one home network is released by D-Link which uses USB device sharing and 802.11 n Wi-Fi connectivity with .Network Attached Storage (NAS). This new device, D-Link Xtreme N DIR-685, not only working as router but serves as digital photo frame, FTP server and internet content player.
1.6 million Color support display LCD screen of size 3.2 inches is present in this device. Live streaming internet content along with weather forecasts, stream video and photos can be viewed using this router. Bit torrent downloads and UPnP (Universal Plug n Play) features are present with the aid of Network Attached Storage (NAS). Side panel consists of a 2.5 inch SATA drive that can store data up to one Tera byte. Documents, music and other media along with photos can be accessed through home network or internet using FTP server.
Gigabit ports for speed wire transfers and two USB ports are present in DIR-685.You can turn off the router’s Wi-Fi network at a pre-scheduled time using Wi-Fi scheduler. Power supply to the LCD screen is automatically turned off while it is in idle mode. This device consolidates all functions to a single device rather using many different products.
